Legacy Elite Starz ("Legacy Elite Starz," "we," "us," or "our") is an all star cheer program based in Highland, Indiana, serving families across Northwest Indiana and the greater Chicago area. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from parents, guardians, and athletes, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
This policy applies to our website at legacyelitestarz.com, our online registration and payment tools, our email and text message communications, our social media pages, and the information we collect in person at our facility and at competitions.
Please read this policy carefully. By registering an athlete, submitting a form on our website, or communicating with us, you agree to the practices described here.
1. A Note for Parents and Guardians First
Our program serves athletes ages 5 through 18. Our website and registration forms are intended for use by parents and legal guardians who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts, submit forms, or provide personal information to us directly. A parent or legal guardian provides all registration information on behalf of a minor athlete.
Section 6 of this policy explains children's privacy in full detail.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide to Us
When you inquire about our program, register an athlete, or communicate with us, you may provide:
Parent and guardian information

Email address
Phone number
Mailing address
Relationship to the athlete
Emergency contact names and phone numbers
Authorized pickup contacts
Athlete information
Full name
Date of birth and age
Gender
Grade or school (when relevant to scheduling)
Team placement, skill level, and evaluation notes
Uniform and apparel sizing
Attendance and participation records
Health and safety information
Allergies
Medical conditions relevant to safe participation
Medications the athlete may need on site
Physician name and phone number
Insurance carrier information required for injury reporting
Concussion acknowledgments and injury reports
Billing information
Billing name and address
Payment history, invoices, balances, and payment plan status
The last four digits and expiration date of a card as stored by our payment processor
Agreements and documents
Signed waivers, releases, medical authorizations, code of conduct agreements, and media releases
Birth certificates or other age verification documents when required by a competition producer or governing body
Communications
Messages you send us by email, text, contact form, social media, or our parent communication channels
Notes we keep about conversations regarding an athlete's placement, account, or concerns you raise
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit legacyelitestarz.com or interact with our ads, we and our providers may automatically collect:
IP address and general location (city or region level)
Browser type, device type, and operating system
Pages viewed, links clicked, and time spent on pages
The website, ad, or search that referred you to us
Cookie and pixel identifiers, including the Meta (Facebook and Instagram) pixel
We use the Meta pixel and similar advertising tools to measure whether our ads reach interested families and to show ads to people who have visited our site. Section 10 explains your choices about this.
2.3 Photos, Video, and Recordings
We photograph and record practices, evaluations, showcases, competitions, and events. This includes footage captured for social media content, skill review, and live streaming. Our facility may also use video cameras for security purposes.
2.4 Information From Other Sources
We may receive information about you or your athlete from competition producers and event registration systems, other gyms or coaches when an athlete transfers, referral sources you name, and public social media interactions such as comments, tags, and direct messages.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Evaluate, place, and register athletes on the appropriate team
Run practices, tumbling classes, mini classes, clinics, and events safely
Communicate schedules, changes, closures, reminders, and program news
Respond to inquiries, evaluation requests, and enrollment questions
Register athletes and teams for competitions and events
Process tuition, fees, uniform orders, and payment plans, and follow up on balances
Respond to injuries and medical situations and contact emergency contacts
Comply with insurance, facility, safety, and governing body requirements
Create promotional content for our website, social media, and advertising
Improve our program, class offerings, scheduling, and website
Measure the performance of our advertising and outreach
Keep records required for legal, tax, and insurance purposes
Prevent fraud, protect our facility, and enforce our policies and agreements
We do not use athlete information for any purpose unrelated to operating our cheer program without first asking you.
4. Payment Information
Payments are processed by third party payment processors. We do not store full credit or debit card numbers, CVV codes, or full bank account numbers on our own systems. Card data is transmitted directly to and stored by our processor under its own security standards and privacy policy. We retain only the information needed to manage your account, such as billing name, amount, date, payment status, and the last four digits of a card.
5. How We Share Information
We share personal information only as described below. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell or rent athlete information to anyone.
Service providers who work on our behalf
Online registration, team management, and scheduling platforms
Payment processors and accounting or bookkeeping services
Email marketing and text message providers
Website hosting, forms, and analytics providers
Advertising platforms, including Meta
These providers are permitted to use the information only to perform services for us.
Coaches and program staff Our coaching and administrative staff access athlete information, including allergies and medical notes, on a need to know basis so they can supervise athletes safely.
Competition producers, event hosts, and governing bodies To register teams and athletes, we submit rosters and required documentation, which may include athlete names, dates of birth, and age verification documents. These organizations handle that information under their own privacy policies.
Insurance carriers and medical responders In the event of an injury or emergency, we share relevant information with emergency responders, medical personnel, and our insurance carrier.
Facility, landlord, or venue Limited information may be shared where required for facility access, incident reporting, or security.
Legal and safety reasons We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or court order, when reporting is required under mandated reporter or child safety laws, or when necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of an athlete, a family, our staff, or our program.
Business transfer If Legacy Elite Starz is sold, merged, franchised, or reorganized, information may transfer to the new owner or entity, subject to this policy.
6. Children's Privacy
We take the privacy of our athletes seriously and we follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and its amended rule.
How we handle information about children under 13:
Our website, forms, and online registration are directed to parents and legal guardians, not to children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information online directly from a child under 13. A parent or legal guardian submits registration, medical, and contact information on the child's behalf, and that submission serves as parental consent.
We do not require a child to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in our program.
We do not condition a child's participation on the disclosure of information that is not needed for participation.
We do not use children's personal information for targeted advertising, and we do not disclose children's personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Parent and guardian rights. As the parent or legal guardian of a child under 13, you may at any time:
Review the personal information we have collected about your child
Ask us to correct inaccurate information
Ask us to delete your child's personal information
Refuse to allow further collection or use of your child's information
To make any of these requests, email us at the address in Section 16. Please understand that if you ask us to delete or stop collecting information that is necessary for safe participation, such as emergency contacts or medical alerts, your child may no longer be able to participate in the program.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without proper parental consent, we will delete it promptly.
7. Photos, Video, and Social Media
Cheer is a visual sport, and photos and video are an important part of how we celebrate athletes, teach skills, and promote our program.
How we use images and footage:
Social media posts on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and similar platforms
Our website, flyers, banners, and printed materials
Paid advertising for enrollment, classes, and events
Skill review, coaching feedback, and training purposes
Live streams of practices, showcases, or competitions when offered
Your choice. Our registration paperwork includes a media release. You may decline the media release, and you may withdraw your permission at any time by emailing us. When you withdraw permission, we will stop using your athlete's image in new content and we will remove existing content that we control when we are reasonably able to do so.
Please note two limits that apply to everyone. First, we cannot always remove content that has already been shared, downloaded, reposted, or saved by others. Second, we do not control photos or video taken by competition producers, event photographers, other parents, or spectators at public events.
A request for families. Please be respectful when photographing or recording at our facility. Do not post images of other people's children without their parent's permission.
8. Email and Text Message Communications
We use email and text messages to send schedule updates, closures, payment reminders, event details, and program news.
By providing your phone number and agreeing to receive messages, you consent to receive program related texts from us at that number. Message and data rates may apply from your carrier. Message frequency varies.
To stop text messages, reply STOP to any message or email us. For help, reply HELP or contact us directly.
To stop marketing emails, click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email or email us.
Even after you opt out of marketing, we will still send you essential messages about your athlete's participation, safety, schedule, and account, because those are necessary to run the program.
9. What We Do Not Collect
For clarity, Legacy Elite Starz does not collect fingerprints, facial recognition scans, voiceprints, retina scans, or any other biometric identifier from athletes, parents, or staff. If that ever changes, for example if we adopt a biometric check in system, we will update this policy and obtain written consent before collecting any biometric information.
10. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising Choices
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working properly, remember your preferences, understand how visitors use the site, and measure our advertising.
You have several choices:
Browser settings. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Some parts of our site may not work correctly if you block cookies.
Meta advertising. You can adjust the ads you see and how your activity is used through your Facebook and Instagram ad preferences and through the Meta Off Facebook Activity settings.
Analytics. You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser opt out add on.
Do Not Track. Our website does not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals.
We do not use retargeting or interest based advertising that is aimed at children under 13.
11. How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, and we apply the following general schedule:

When information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove the details that identify a person.
12. How We Protect Information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. These include password protected accounts and devices, limiting staff access to what each role actually needs, using reputable vendors for registration and payment processing, keeping paper documents in a secured location at our facility, and reviewing our practices periodically.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach occurs that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by Indiana and Illinois law.
13. Your Rights and Choices
Whether or not a particular privacy law applies to a program our size, we believe families should have control over their information. You may contact us to:
Access the personal information we hold about you or your athlete
Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date
Delete information, subject to records we are required to keep for legal, insurance, or tax reasons
Opt out of marketing emails and text messages
Withdraw media release permission
Ask questions about how a specific piece of information is used
Indiana residents. The Indiana Consumer Data Protection Act took effect on January 1, 2026 and gives Indiana residents rights over their personal data. That law applies to businesses that process the data of very large numbers of residents, and a program of our size falls well below those thresholds. We honor the rights described above regardless.
Illinois residents. Many of our families live in Illinois. We honor the same rights for Illinois families, and we comply with Illinois requirements regarding biometric information as described in Section 9.
How to make a request. Email us at the address in Section 16 and tell us what you would like us to do. We may need to verify your identity and your relationship to the athlete before we act on a request. We will respond within 30 days. If we cannot fully honor a request, we will explain why.
There is no charge for a reasonable request, and we will never penalize a family or an athlete for exercising these rights.
14. Third Party Websites and Platforms
Our website, emails, and social media may link to third party sites such as registration platforms, payment processors, apparel and uniform vendors, competition producers, and social media platforms. Those organizations have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site before providing information.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our program grows, as we add new tools, or as the law changes. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of the page and post the new version at legacyelitestarz.com.
If we make a material change to how we handle a child's personal information, we will notify parents and guardians directly and obtain consent where the law requires it.
We encourage you to review this policy at the start of each season.
